Manaslu Trek Packing List

Our several clients ask frequently about the necessary gears for the Manaslu Circuit Trek because it is one of the most demanding as well as highly awaited treks of Nepal. A newly opened trekking trial, offers complete natural and cultural beauty with the stunning mountain views.

This trek onlooks the backwoods of the nature which is untouched by the rest of the universe. Throughout the journey, the weather may change in an unanticipated way. Even in the peak seasons, you shall encounter unexpected weather. Passing the sub-tropical to alpine climate may be challenging in term of Altitude Sickness.

So, before starting the trek, you have to carry everything you need from the city because as you start your journey, there is little chance to buy them on the way.  It doesn’t mean that you should overpack them as well because in some days, you should walk up to 8 hours a day.

Therefore, to make your holiday special by trekking, please be prepared with the essentials which are listed.

Clothing

Be ready to fight unbearable weather conditions of the Himalayas especially at nights. For this please be with:

  • A down jacket
  • Trekking shirts, trousers, shorts
  • Thermal insulation
  • Waterproof and Windproof jacket
  • Fleece Jacket

Sleeping Accessories

The needed equipment while sleeping are:

  • Sleeping bag
  • Pillow Case

Footwear

Comfortable footwear is compulsory as you are walking rough terrains if you want really enjoy it. The needed footwears are:

  • Trekking boots
  • Hiking boots
  • Slippers
  • Trekking socks (3-5 pairs)
  • Gaiters

Bags

To keep your necessary equipment, you need a duffle bag weighing about 90 liters. But if you are walking without porters, better to carry a Backpack weighing 40-90 liters. Next, you need to carry Daypack to keep your personal belongings as passport, wallet, hydration bladder, camera, and cell phone. So, you need:

  • Duffle bag or a Backpack
  • A daypack

Head wear and Hand wear

As you are hiking to a very high altitude or in winter, the temperature may drop below 0° Celsius. So, you need to carry warm clothes which cover your ears. The gears for hand and head include:

  • Gloves- Inner and Outer
  • Headscarf
  • Sun hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Woolen hat
  • Neck gaiter, Buff
  • Headlamp with additional batteries

Medication

Consult with your doctor before starting your trek and carry essential medicines that you need because you will not find them on the way. And don’t forget to bring:

  • Water purifying tablets
  • Diamox tablet
  • Antacids, Diarrhea tablets, paracetamols
  • Blister plasters
  • Painkillers and muscle rubs

Other Essentials

Other essentials include:

  • Quick-dry towels
  • Trekking poles
  • Oximeters
  • Toiletries
  • Snacks (Coffee mixes, Cereal Mixes, Energy drink powders and Bars)
  • Important Documents (Passport, 2/3 passport-sized photos, TIMS and permits, Insurance documents)
